Representatives from Commerce will discuss the numerous City resources available to small businesses, including the Storefront Improvement Program, technical assistance, hiring incentives, and access to capital. Bill Salvatore, the Director of the Unity Cup and Parks and Recreation staffer will discuss this year’s tournament and the Philadelphia International Block Party.

A World Cup-style tournament held over several months, the Philadelphia International Unity Cup unites the city’s neighborhoods and celebrates its diverse immigrant communities through soccer. The brainchild of Mayor Jim Kenney, the Unity Cup became an annual tradition after its massively successful inaugural year in 2016.

The Philadelphia International Block Party, a feature event of the 2017 Philadelphia Welcoming Week, highlights the city-wide soccer tournament’s most anticipated game match-up: Mexico vs. Ireland. The Block Party welcomes players, coaches, and all Philadelphians to a space that many groups have historically called home. The block party will be held at Marconi Plaza, 13th and Oregon St. in South Philadelphia, on Saturday, September 23 from 4-8pm.
